Best Honeymoon Destinations

There are few times in life more exciting than your wedding. There are all kinds of things to plan from the ceremony to the reception to the honeymoon, so it may seem overwhelming at first. You want to go somewhere fun and romantic on your honeymoon, but with all of the planning you are doing for the rest of the day, you don’t know if you have it in you to plan one more thing. But luck is on your side, because there are a lot of honeymoon destinations that do all of the planning for you. All you need to do is arrive with your luggage.

How do you determine the best honeymoon destinations? There is a different answer for every couple who is looking to book hotel rooms and flights. Some couples prefer a tropical location on the beach where they don’t have any noise or any planning to do. There best destination would be an all-inclusive resort. All-inclusive resorts handle food, drinks, transportation and planning activities if they choose to do them.

For couples who prefer to do what they want, when they want, then an all-inclusive might not be the correct answer. And there are people who don’t want to go to the Caribbean because it is so popular, at times it tends to be a bit crowded. Other destinations like the French Riviera, the Poconos Mountains, Niagara Falls, Key West, Mackinaw Island and other traditionally romantic spots are a perfect location for a honeymoon. A couple could even choose to go on an all-inclusive honeymoon up in Canada, where they do nothing but fish for a week. There isn’t a right or a wrong answer, but one that works for the couple who are enjoying their honeymoon and then the rest of their lives together.

Booking Luxury Honeymoon Destinations

When you are booking luxury honeymoon destinations, are you going to a resort for couples, an all-inclusive resort or did you just pick a spot on the map and buy tickets? There are a lot of ways that a couple can enjoy their honeymoon these days. Everything can be planned for you, some of it can be planned or you can choose to plan all of it yourself. For the couples who have had a big wedding and lots of planning to do for the big day, planning a honeymoon might not be appealing. Therefore, many travel coordinators have taken the guesswork out and planned destination trips for couples to choose from.

When you are going to book a package, make sure to ask what the packages include. Is that your meals? The alcoholic beverages? Do you have to pay tips only? There are a lot of services included and a lot that aren’t, so ask to see what yours does include so you can plan to take the appropriate amount of money with you. Not all of the islands work with US currency, so you will have to have cash on hand to trade in for local currency to pay for tips, trinkets at the local shops or if you venture out on your own for a meal.

What Are All Inclusive Honeymoon Destinations

When a person says all-inclusive, it could actually mean a couple different things. Typically, when you booked a room at an all-inclusive resort, it meant you didn’t need to worry about a thing. The rooms, the food, the non-alcoholic drinks and even a few activities were included in the cost. Now, there are so many packages to choose from with other activities that sometimes there are additional fees for what you choose to do. Whether you decide to go on an all day scuba diving excursion or sky dive at the local airport, there will be additional fees for the activity. It may be included or it could be extra, depending on how your individual package was set up.

All-inclusive honeymoon destinations are very popular for a couple of reasons. The first is that some, if not all, do not allow children. Therefore, if you want a quiet and romantic weekend or week with your new spouse, then you have a better chance of getting it than if you were to go to a random location and book a room. The adults around you might get rowdy, but if they are looking for the same thing as you are, chances are great that it will be a quiet week. The setting will be romantic and everyone gets to enjoy the atmosphere and there isn’t little feet pitter pattering around.

The second reason why they are popular is that almost everything is taken care of for you. No meal planning, no wondering where to go for dinner or what is available to do. There will be schedules of meals, activities planned and transportation to various outings throughout the day and night to the popular destinations in the region.  You can simply choose to show up and follow the schedule or do nothing on the schedule. Most couples do not like to have to figure out when and where to eat, so taking the guesswork out of that process is appreciated by those who have probably had a stressful or hectic week leading up to the wedding.

Romantic Honeymoon Destination

How can you pick a romantic honeymoon destination that is sure to please both of you? Is there a location that one or either of you have been to before and liked? Does one location hold special meaning to both of you? Book a honeymoon to that location when it holds special meaning. If there isn’t a spot, then that doesn’t matter because you can create your own in any of the destinations of the honeymoon resorts or locations.

The setting itself is often romantic because of the warm water, the candlelit paths at night, the intimate settings at dinner and the soft breezes of the palms at night. Just about any destination in the Caribbean or other exotic location can be turned in to a romantic hideaway for you and your new spouse. From where you choose to eat to spending quality time together on the beach, it can be romantic because it is just the two of you and no other worries.

Typical destinations that people choose because of their reputation for being romantic include Hawaii, the French Riviera, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Cancun, Turks and Caicos and Antigua. There are also many other cities and islands in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico that hold private resorts that are perfect for honeymooners. What makes the destination romantic is what you put in to it. Do you want to look for a candlelit table for two or are you up for eating with a bunch of locals in a diner? Even that can be romantic if you throw a candle down and look across the table at the person sitting there.

Romantic honeymoon destinations offer ample time to be alone, yet to also get to know some other people who are out and enjoying their honeymoon. Resorts for honeymooners often allow people to eat and dine on their own or to meet other couples and enjoy group dining events. It’s a great way to meet new friends and yet have a lot of time to spend with each other on the honeymoon.

Are There Cheap Honeymoon Destinations?

Since many couples spend so much money on the event leading up to the honeymoon, there isn’t a lot of money sometimes for the honeymoon. Can cheap honeymoon destinations be found? There are certain times of the year and things to look for in order to get a better rate on your destination honeymoon. It might not be bargain basement cheap, but compared to the full price packages, it is a great deal.

To find cheaper places to go for your honeymoon, if the wedding isn’t set yet, pick a date that is in the off season. Off season trips in the Caribbean include the summer months, since it is usually warm across the rest of North America, people don’t travel to tropical destinations. The resorts could be less crowded, the prices on the rooms can be a lot less and then there won’t be lines for shows or other things you want to do while at your resort. Don’t make the honeymoon cheap by picking a low class hotel or staying in a part of time that is rife with crime. Pick the resort area of the city and look for hotels with lower rates so that you can still have a tropical, romantic honeymoon without paying an arm and a leg for it.

The downside to traveling to the tropics during the summer months is that it is also hurricane season. You take the risk of getting a cheap honeymoon destination in exchange for a tropical storm or hurricane. If you do worry about it, you can always purchase travel insurance to protect your investment a little bit. Travel insurance won’t cover everything if there is a storm during your trip or before your trip and you can’t even go, it will help with a majority of it.

Another way to get cheap honeymoon accommodations is to book online. There are often packages available through the discount websites that offer airfare, hotel room and packages at many of the romantic sites. Make sure you are purchasing it through a reputable website though and not just a scam. The website will give you a confirmation number, so be sure to print out all of your information and then confirm with the actual airline, resort or car rental agency that your reservations made it through OK.

Exotic Honeymoon Destinations

Exotic honeymoon destinations are the less frequently traveled routes for couples. Exotic doesn’t always mean tropical, because it could mean taking your honeymoon on a safari in South Africa. It could also mean you take a week to go glamping on a fancy dude ranch out in the western states of the US. Exotic honeymoon destinations are unique and ones that will give you many memories to last for the rest of your life.  Spend it in a fancy tent or be together riding across the wilds of a country.

Exotic honeymoon destinations could include places where people rarely travel, like Antarctica. Even though it is cold, snowy and there isn’t much to do, it could be perfect for a couple. When there isn’t anything to do, imagine how much quality time you will have to spend together.  An exotic vacation could also mean traveling to the Orient, where you can experience a different culture and learn a whole lot of things about a country you knew little about before.

Exotic destinations might cost extra money, simply because they aren’t traveled to as often. Since there is less traffic to the destination or it is less traveled, there might be more overhead expenses to cover. Those expenses get passed on down to you, the visitor in many cases. If you look at it that this will be a once in a lifetime experience, then spending the extra money in this instance might not matter. Take as many pictures as possible and write down notes so that you can remember all of the details and memories for as long as you live.

Honeymoon destinations don’t have to be expensive or exotic as long as both people agree on where to go. The honeymoon location could be across state lines, where there is a lot to see and do. It could also be a remote location, where there aren’t many things to see, but nature to appreciate. The best honeymoon destination is one where both people have a great time as they begin their journey in to a marriage that will last them a lifetime. Hotel rooms, car rentals and even dinner and drinks take a back seat to spending quality time with the person you fell in love with and will be with forever.
